King Gambrinus, the mythical inventor of lager beer stands in the center of the poster, with a goblet of beer raised high. Above Gambrinus are two American flags. He is flanked on either side by barley stalks and hop vines, representing two of the primary ingredients in beer. Near the bottom of the print is a depiction of the La Crosse Brewery, with beer bottles on either side. At bottom right, in very small lettering, is the name of the publisher and/or lithographer: "Published by William Bros., 184 William St. New York."
